325,000 SF

Completed 2014

The Shops at Canton Crossing is a mixed-use development that sits on 31 acres of waterfront property in Baltimore’s Canton neighborhood. With 31 new stores and restaurants, the $105 million project encompasses 325,000 SF of retail space, including several tenants that will be opening their first locations in Baltimore City.  Carroll Engineering provided structural services for seven buildings, including the Farmstead Grill, DSW, ULTA Beauty, Mission Barbeque, Old Navy, and Michaels.

Working with prime architect Brown Craig Turner, CEI completed designs for single-story buildings with steel framing, glass storefronts, and standard, shallow spread footings.  Two of the buildings featured concrete tilt-up panels, and the Farmstead Grill structure featured exposed heavy timber trusses for an interior aesthetic finish.  CEI also provided designs for multiple canopies and entrance features, including a 30-foot-high cantilevered canopy and a timber trellis.  Additional structural designs included CMU walls, retaining walls, tenant fit-outs, and designs to support industrial-style architecture.
